An online suicide prevention resource – www.suicideline.org.au – has been launched by the remote counselling service On The Line.

The website covers talking about suicide, self-help options, how to access professional support, keeping safe, information and support about self-harm, and information about coping after a suicide attempt.

MEDIA RELEASE: New online resources go live

27 March 2013 

The new SuicideLine Victoria website www.suicideline.org.au designed to assist Victorians at risk of suicide, or those worried about or bereaved by suicide was launched today by On the Line, Australia’s leading professional remote counselling provider.

The CEO of On the Line, Ms Alyson Miller said that, ‘SuicideLine Victoria provides telephone support to anyone living in Victoria affected by suicide. Recent statistics reveal that over 80% of people who contact the service are concerned about their own risk of suicide. To help we have refreshed the homepage to assist those at direct risk of suicide’.

The website contains a wide variety of new content, including issues such as how to talk about suicide, self-help options, how to access professional support, keeping yourself safe, information and support about self-harm, and information about how to cope after a suicide attempt.

Dedicated online counselling for those at risk of suicide

On the Line (formerly Crisis Support Services) has commenced an Australian first: a free, online suicide prevention counselling service for people at risk of suicide.
This new service follows the successful introduction of a similar online service for carers of those at risk of, or bereaved by suicide.
 
CEO Alyson Miller welcomed this new service, which directly targets some of our most vulnerable community members across Australia.
